Slower development continuing for forseeable future
Hi. I think I'm getting the feeling that Auxio v4.0.0 has been really divisive. I pushed this huge update, then seemingly dipped and barely fixed the bugs that appeared. This is sadly true, development has simply been too slow. I want to just explain why here. To be honest, it's hard for me to find the time to work on Auxio, mostly due to the life I have. I'm either a student or working a job. Oftentimes, issues are reported during the week while I'm at work or asleep, and I can lose track as a result. Right now I have around 30 hours of free time weekly (give or take), and I don't want to have that all used for Auxio. I have things I want to do (participate in the Church, liesure, etc.). Additionally, Auxio is not my only focus now. While this project itself is valuable, I need to also spend time building other career skills to remain relevant, which requires investing those 30 hours into other projects too. This can consume a lot of my weekends in particular. Still, I feel like I need to make an apology. I should be more active after such a large change. My plan is to not abandon Auxio whatsoever. For now however, the app will be in a period of stabilization. My focus is on fixing the major regressions (Date Added, for example) and doing refactors. I will try to address as many of the v4.0.0 issues as I can as fast as I can. Longer term, I'll decide on where the app should go in terms of features. Thanks to everyone that has been patient. Best, Alex
