Please improve variant/attribute documentation / error messages
Truth be told, the documentation available [here](https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/variant_attributes.html) reads as if it was written for folks that were already familiar with it or asking for the feature. For cases where one runs into an unexpected build failure from them though, I've found these docs to be mostly lacking, and the error messaging from Gradle is equally unhelpful. I think these would do well to add some common case troubleshooting items at least, as that's the only time I or anyone I know has ever encountered needing to use variants.
