I still remember my first watching of Grave of the Fireflies. It was gut wrenching, brutal, and to be honest, depressing and demoralizing to the point of wanting to slash your own wrists at the pain and suffering that people went through after the war (especially the orphans). It's a great film, but getting myself to watch it is seriously tough each time. I wish there was another animator out there who would/could do something remotely close to what he did for his studio.
