Playing maps larger than 150mb for community Servers
Greetings, CSGO experts! I'd like to raise an issue related to the size restriction for community maps. The problem is that there's a certain limit for unpacking bsp files from bz2 archives, which is 150 MB. If this limit is exceeded for a bsp file located inside a bz2 archive, then, after downloading the map the game displays the Missing Map error. If you upload a 150+ MB bsp file to a FastDL server without pre-packing it into an archive, then, in this case players would be able to download and play such a map. However, some community servers cannot afford adding large bsp files because it would take too long for players to download them due to slow Internet connection. While looking for a solution to this problem, I found this thread in CSGO discussions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/730/discussions/0/412446292774612284/ This thread was created back in 2016 and, according to updates, the limit was gradually increasing, but then it stopped at the 150 MB threshold. I hope this thread will manage to reach CSGO developers and get them interested in the idea, and we'll have the limit for bsp files increased to at least 300 MB. DecompressBZipToDisk: ze_ffvii_cosmo_canyon_v6 too big (max 150 megabytes, use launch option -maxdownloadfilesizemb N to override). error I get
